Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in accounting or related field
  • Seven to eight years' experience in general accounting and financial reporting required with preference given to applicants with experience in accounting/financial reporting in a higher education setting.
  • Experience working with an enterprise-wide financial system required with advanced PC skills and extensive experience with MS Office
  • Financial planning and analysis skills are critical to the success of this position.
  • Must possess high integrity to provide ethical and consistent leadership in all areas of COS operations.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, high integrity, and demonstrate aptitude and desire to work as a member of a team and a proven record of being proactive in the performance of all job-related functions.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or MS in a related discipline with a professional certification (CPA, CMA, or CIA) preferred. Management/Supervisor experience is strongly preferred.

Department/College Description

The Controller's Office team is comprised of accounting and financial professionals who work together to provide accurate, timely and actionable information and services to our customers while acting as good stewards of the university's financial resources.

Job Summary

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information for the college. Provide direct financial and accounting support to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures while providing excellent service to the College dean, other members of the leadership team, departmental administrators, faculty and staff. Additionally a person in this role will, identify and execute on opportunities to add value by optimizing processes and procedures and expanding financial awareness while maintaining College focus on educating healthcare professionals and developing patient-focused programs and systems. Communicates RIT accounting policies and procedures, and completes ad-hoc requests as necessary.

Please note: This position is primarily based on the Henrietta Campus, specifically within the College of Science. On-campus presence is crucial for effective collaboration, access to resources, and engagement with students and faculty. There may be an opportunity for a hybrid schedule in the future once proficiency has been achieved. If a hybrid schedule becomes possible, the maximum number of approved remote workdays will be two per week.
