Respiratory Therapist - PRN

• Receives physician's orders for therapy, verifying mode, medications and frequency.
• Initiates new therapy as ordered, completing all paperwork to be installed in the patient's chart and in the department's records.
• Documents all therapy on the Respiratory Care Treatment Schedule and Oxygen record and copies each for the next day's therapy rounds.
• Institutes, monitors and maintains all mechanical ventilation/Bipap/High Flow Oxygen.
• Makes oxygen rounds once per shift checking for proper delivery and function of oxygen apparatus; insures adequate equipment is on stand-by in ICU and ER.
• Performs Pulmonary Function testing.
• Cleans and maintains equipment and work areas daily.
• Completes individual assignments as assigned by the Director and/or Lead Therapist.
• Attends departmental and other hospital wide meetings and in-services.
• Participates in Quality Assurance reviews as assigned.
• Responds to all Code Blue & Rapid Response Teams and performs CPR.
• Assists in orientation of new therapists.
• Keeps abreast of new techniques and methods of therapy, and assists in the instruction of such to therapists.
• Completes and/or assists in the writing of Incident Reports with submission to supervisor as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Neonatal experienced preferred

Working Conditions:

Must understand and accept the possibility of exposure to the risk of blood and blood borne diseases, infectious/communicable diseases, chemicals, fumes/odors. Exposed to unpleasant elements. Functions effectively under stressful situations
