We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager (Frontend/Fullstack) to lead and scale our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for people management, team development, and driving execution while fostering a high-performance engineering culture. You will play a pivotal role in aligning global and local teams, ensuring seamless delivery, and championing collaboration, transparency, and agility.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in React, GraphQL, React Native, TypeScript, and Python, with experience building scalable, high-performance systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and develop user-facing applications and backend services, ensuring a seamless experience for our customers.

Requirements

Execution & Delivery

  • Full Stack Development: Lead the development of frontend features, ensuring high performance and seamless user experience. Contribute to backend development when needed.
  • API Integration: Develop and manage RESTful & GraphQL APIs to enable smooth communication between frontend and backend services.
  • Frontend Architecture & Design: Build, test, and maintain scalable frontend applications using React, Node.js, and modern frameworks.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Ensure the team delivers on commitments aligned with product and engineering roadmaps.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, QA, and Support teams (US & UY-based) to align on priorities, scope, and feasibility.
  • Drive Agile Best Practices: Ensure efficient workflows in a distributed, fast-paced startup environment.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Agile Collaboration: Work with designers and backend engineers to refine UI/UX implementations.
  • Code Quality & Reliability: Establish rigorous testing and validation processes to ensure a robust, scalable codebase.
  • Optimize Remote Collaboration: Implement and refine processes for efficient distributed teamwork.
  • Post-Mortems & Retrospectives: Drive continuous learning and improvement through structured feedback loops.

People & Team Development

  • Lead & Mentor Engineers: Provide coaching, career development, and performance management to build a high-performing, autonomous team.
  • Foster a Strong Engineering Culture: Promote collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Talent Development: Identify and nurture engineering talent, supporting career growth within the team.
  • Team Well-Being & Retention: Maintain engagement, ensure alignment with company values, and advocate for team needs.
  • Transparent Communication: Provide regular syncs and updates, proactively escalating issues and removing blockers.
  • Business & Customer Context Awareness: Help the team understand the broader business impact of their work.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership or managerial roles.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with React, Node.js, TypeScript, and Python.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and developing API-driven backend systems.
  • Experience with AWS Serverless technologies and GraphQL is a plus.
  • Proficiency in relational & non-relational databases (e.g., MySQL, DynamoDB) and data modeling.
  • Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Passion for building data-driven products and learning new business domains.
  • Excellent problem-solving & analytical skills, with a track record of delivering innovative solutions.
  • Experience in early-stage startups and ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication & collaboration skills to work across teams and geographies.

For this role, the estimated base salary range is between $202,000 - $247,000 USD. The actual base salary will vary based on various factors, including market and individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary range for this role may be modified.
