Job Description

Flutter Engineering Team Lead

Are you an accomplished frontend engineer with Flutter and leadership experience?  Are you passionate about building and improving growing SaaS platforms and the teams that make that possible? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join PropertyRadar, a dynamic and fast-growing company.

At PropertyRadar, we are on a mission to provide small businesses with better access to the opportunities found in public records. We've been doing it for real estate investors, Realtors, mortgage brokers, home service companies, and others since 2007.  We are broadening our customer base and looking to scale significantly.

As an Engineering Team Lead at PropertyRadar, you will be pivotal in guiding a cross-functional team towards achieving our company objectives through efficient project delivery and innovative solutions.  You will work closely with the other engineering team leads to design and implement robust solutions while tuning optimal performance, security, and cost-efficiency.

About You

  • You help software-as-a-service engineering teams move fast with your leadership and technical skills.  You have proven expertise in SaaS application development with a rich history of frontend engineering and extensive use of Flutter.    However, you balance speed with a deep understanding of quality and security needs.
  • You want to lead a successful and fast-moving team.  You enjoy solving the puzzle of turning a collection of individual engineers into a cohesive and high performing team.  You communicate well in both synchronous (e.g. video calls, Slack) and asynchronous tools (e.g. Confluence, Jira) with people from diverse backgrounds and fulfilling various roles within the company.  You provide coaching and mentoring to strengthen each member of your team.
  • You want to make a difference. You understand the fastest path to your success, and ours, fundamentally depends on helping our customers, partners, and teammates succeed. We're on a mission to help small local businesses grow through hyperlocal lead generation. You believe that's important and can't wait to help.
  • You get stuff done.  You know how to break projects down into meaningful tasks and align a team to deliver quality, performant, and useful features.  You inspire your team to move quickly but with quality.
  • You have a proven track record. You've delivered high-quality, successful, and scalable SaaS products.   You have 8+ years of hands-on experience building SaaS application UIs with at least 3 years of leading a team of 5 or more.  You learned by getting a degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.) then getting hands-on experience or jumping right in learning on the job.

Things You'll Do

Despite being founded in 2007, PropertyRadar still runs like a startup, so you'll get experience with a little bit of everything. That said, here are some things you'll do:

  • Lead project deliveries, maintaining high security standards, and ensuring cost-efficiency, while achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) such as project delivery timelines and team satisfaction metrics.
  • Demonstrate accountability for the features your team needs to deliver from requirements gathering to deployment and follow-up.
  • Proactively raise and mitigate concerns or risks related to timelines, scope, or technical decisions.
  • Understand and align with the business goals and adapt technical work to support them.
  • Lead your team in discussing, evaluating, and making software design trade-offs based on your deep understanding of SOLID principles.
  • Give and receive code reviews with a focus on growth, quality, and maintainability.
  • Work with CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Actively seek feedback and be eager to learn from others.
  • Show initiative by making improvements, whether in tooling, processes, or product within your team as well as suggesting improvements for both engineering and the company.
  • Clearly communicate status, risks, and technical designs to both engineering and business teammates as needed.
  • Use AI both in your own work and in the application to add efficiencies for yourself, your team, and our users.
  • Release secure applications based on your solid understanding of security best practices, including authentication and authorization mechanisms and protocols.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in technology, security, and architecture.  Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
  • Manage backlog, guide the team to successful sprints, and ensure documentation is created.
  • Coach and mentor engineers on your team fostering both their individual growth and overall team development.
  • Jump in where needed, always being bold and leading by example.
  • Frontend engineering specific ways you will contribute
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices using deep understanding of Flutter and Dart, including state management approaches (e.g., MobX, Provider).
  • Translating Figma designs into reusable, pixel-perfect Flutter widgets, with attention to responsive behavior and accessibility.
  • Debugging efficiently across different platforms while dealing with platform-specific quirks.
  • Integrating effectively with RESTful APIs and handling common client-side concerns like caching, error handling, and performance optimization.
  • Sharing knowledge and patterns that could be reused across other projects within the client guild.
  • Helping define or refine standards for Flutter development.
  • Bonus points for cloud architecture, engineering, or security certifications especially for AWS.
