About the Role:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – Cardiology Float plays a critical role in supporting both clinical and administrative operations across multiple Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) clinics and providers. This dynamic position is responsible for ensuring continuity of care through patient intake, vitals, EKGs, medication reconciliation, and assistance with stress tests and cardiac diagnostic procedures. The float CMA must demonstrate adaptability, clinical competence, and excellent communication skills while maintaining cardiology-specific protocols and safety standards.

How You’ll Drive Our Mission Forward:
  • Assist nursing staff in gathering key patient information, including chief complaint, vitals, medication lists, allergies, and medical history.

  • Perform EKGs, draw blood (venipuncture and finger sticks), and assist in applying and managing cardiac monitoring devices such as holters and telemetry monitors.

  • Support diagnostic testing procedures including Nuclear, PET, Stress Testing, Ultrasound, Echocardiography, and Coumadin labs.

  • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) and CPOE for physician orders, lab scheduling, documentation, and form completion (e.g., Home Health, FMLA, handicap license).

  • Educate patients and families regarding diagnostic testing procedures and cardiac monitoring equipment.

  • Maintain exam room readiness through routine stocking, cleaning, and OSHA-compliant checklists.

  • Facilitate patient mobility and flow within clinics, including transport assistance and occasional transport to hospitals.

  • Ensure accurate and timely communication with other departments to optimize patient wait times and care coordination.

  • Perform front-office duties: schedule appointments, answer calls, check-in/out patients, verify insurance, and maintain HIPAA compliance.

  • Serve in other capacities as needed to support the mission and goals of CIS.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
