Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading Anton Cabinetry's design and production drawing team. This role ensures that design deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with project timelines. The manager oversees CAD Product Designers, Project Design Managers (PDMs), and the CAD Systems Specialist, driving standardization, process improvement, and throughput in the Engineering department.

Primary Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Performance

  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of CAD Product Designers, Project Design Managers (PDMs), and the CAD Systems Specialist
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide mentoring, and build technical and leadership capabilities across the team
  • Foster a culture of accountability, standardization, and collaboration aligned with Anton Cabinetry's core values

Planning, Scheduling & Resource Management

  • Own and manage the engineering schedule, including weekly work assignments and milestone planning
  • Coordinate closely with PMs and PDMs to ensure timely drawing submittals and shop release readiness
  • Assign and balance internal and outsourced design resources based on skill, capacity, and project priorities

Technical Oversight & Standards Execution

  • Lead the cross-functional standards team, collaborating with the CAD Systems Specialist to prioritize, document, and evolve engineering and drafting standards; ensure consistent implementation across internal and outsourced teams
  • Ensure all design outputs adhere to company CAD standards, documentation protocols, and construction best practices
  • Coordinate testing, feedback, and rollout of new templates, libraries, or standards
  • Participate in technical reviews and support complex project designs as needed

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Design/Engineering, Project Management, Production, and Field Services
  • Collaborate with PMs to clarify scope, sequence, and constructability of projects in early phases
  • Support job-specific drawing coordination with PDMs, Designers, and PMs

Process Improvement & Department Development

  • Identify and lead initiatives to improve throughput, drawing accuracy, and department efficiency
  • Maintain engineering KPIs and reporting dashboards in partnership with leadership and admin support
  • Delegate testing and implementation to appropriate PDMs or designers
  • Help shape onboarding and training programs for new hires and junior team members
  • Chair recurring standards review meetings with key stakeholders to align on changes, improvements, and enforcement strategy.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in commercial architectural millwork design, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role
  • Proficiency in CAD-based software (AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of architectural drawing interpretation, construction methods, and manufacturing standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage people, set expectations, and deliver performance feedback
  • Skilled in time management, resource allocation, and process standardization
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and ERP systems (e.g., Innergy)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience overseeing hybrid design teams (internal, outsourced, varying experience levels)
  • Working knowledge of CNC post-processors, BOM systems, or software automation
  • Familiarity with AWI standards and QCP testing protocols
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or related field
  • Experience implementing new CAD tools, standards, or systems
