Salary Range
$43,700.00 - $82,400.00
Overview Reporting to the Associate Director of Finance & Operations, the position encompasses both Pre-award (preparing, reviewing and submitting grant applications) as well as Post-award (ad-hoc and monthly analysis/grant closeout, etc.) duties. This position is expected to develop and maintain knowledge of University finance and budgeting processes and applicable federal, state and university policies and procedures. Special projects may be assigned as required. Required Skills and Abilities 1. Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory and analysis. Strong computer skills, including but not limited to: MS Excel, Word, and MS Access. 2. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong working partnerships and communicate with faculty,Principal Investigators, sponsors, Office of Sponsored Projects, and other key. 3. Well-developed analytic and problem-solving skills. Well-organized and have an orientation todetail. Ability to recognize, correct, and prevent recurrence of errors. 4. Proactive with strong sense of urgency to deadlines, curious and resourceful. Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, manage time and resources effectively. Ability to read and comply with policies, procedures and guidelines. 5. Excellent customer service skills; effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Education, Experience and Skills Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Principal Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Identifies trends and variances through the development of reports such as forecast and trend analyses. Analyzes budgets to ensure appropriate charging of expenses and integration of data, analyze data and develop complex analytical reports for principal investigators including trend analysis, forecast future financial scenarios, develop long range projections, and variance analyses. 2. Budget Development: Develops proposals and budgets for grant and contract submissions; coordinate with partnering institutions. Help to ensure compliance with sponsor regulations and University policies and procedures. 3. Compliance and Risk Management: Reviews, interprets and effectively applies sponsor policies on a variety of topics including cost allowability, budget management and other award management activities to ensure compliance with sponsoring agency requirements and University policies and procedures. Planning, organizing and prioritizing actions to ensure compliance across multiple awards and investigators' portfolios. 4. Effective Finance Partner: Interacts with faculty and internal and external contacts, such as the School of Medicine, Grant & Contract Administration and Grant & Contract Financial Administration, and granting agencies by helping manage the internal pre award proposal process and the management of sponsored funding. 5. May perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required. Degrees received in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred. 0-2 years of experience with demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced environment.
