ROLE OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, and will consist of three key functions in the plant. Supporting existing production processes, working closely with plant leaders, process technicians, and operators, providing training, and standardized processes to optimize colleague safety, product quality, and operational costs. Oversee plant, operational, maintenance, and other capital projects that support the growth strategy of the facility. Work closely with the Product Development team, modifying existing tooling and equipment or specifying new technology to support new product growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluates existing production equipment and layout to design machine and layout designs to enhance productivity, cost efficiency, reliability, and safety.
- Optimizes manufacturing processes, including process control, set-up, changeover, automation, die development, new equipment selections and lean manufacturing workflow improvements. Writes process and work instructions and trains operators, set-up, and maintenance personnel on SOP's.
- Manages projects including scope development, specifications, schedule, estimating, cost tracking and resource planning for engineering and other technical activities relating to the project to ensure safety, regulatory, and policy requirements are met. Accountable for project execution relative to scope, time, and budget.
- Designs with external vendors, basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, and plastic injection molds in response to specific new products or manufacturing process requirements. Which also includes improvements or modifies existing equipment or processes.
- Interfaces and coordinates with internal customers (operations and new product engineering) to manage outside contractors, gather estimated costs, track proposals, and manage the projects execution.
- Provide technical consultation to plant maintenance groups pertaining to installation, trouble shooting, process control and repair of equipment.
- Participates with the internal EH&S resources to implement equipment safety standards and procedures. Supports equipment safety upgrades as needed in the plant network. Supports commitment-based safety. Promotes use of all PPE by employees, ensuring guards and safety features are working, and good daily safety practices and habits.
- Some travel may be required on occasion - up to 5%
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- 5+ years of Project Management in manufacturing with practical expertise in mechanical, electrical, or plastic engineering.
- Typically possesses a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) and 4-8 years of experience. BS in Engineering or an advanced degree preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
- Mechanical engineering knowledge and its application, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and component design
- Hands-on experience with set-up, troubleshooting, changeover, automation, and mold process optimization
- Experience with new product development, design, trials, and material selection
- Basic electrical experience as it relates to control of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Strong background in project planning, prioritization, and implementation. PMP certification a plus.
- Experience leading medium projects. Project examples include new equipment, cell design, and complete manufacturing line installation.
- Strong electromechanical troubleshooting experience
- Experience with developing detailed plans to improve plant reliability, robustness, and profitability
- Good skills in interpersonal relationships as needed to maintain successful relationships with customers and coworkers at all levels
- Experience with machine repairs, rebuilds, and maintenance plans
- Good communication skills for creating, delivering, and selling ideas or messages
- Good knowledge of OSHA, regulatory compliance, and industrial safety practices
- Solid financial acumen
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Experience with 2D and 3D AutoCAD preferred
- Computer skills in MS Project, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Compensation Range:
The pay range for this position is $101,800.00 - $173,300.00. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between $110,000.00 to $130,000.00. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
