O Bee Credit Union is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer to join our amazing team. This is a full-time role that plays a vital part in supporting our mission, our Members, and our one-of-a-kind company culture.
What You'll Do
As our Mortgage Loan Officer, you will contribute to the credit union's growth and positive reputation by delivering mortgage lending services to members both in person and remotely. Originate a wide range of high-quality mortgage loans, including Conventional, Jumbo, FHA, USDA, VA, Portfolio, Reverse Mortgages, and Home Equity Loans and Lines. Drive business development through marketing initiatives and promotional strategies, while actively engaging with current and prospective members to understand their financial goals and recommend the most suitable mortgage solutions.
Responsibilities
Lending
- Provide mortgage lending services to new and existing members both in person and remotely.
- Focus on building long-term relationships by identifying and addressing members' individual financial needs.
- Collaborate with other departments to service new & existing members to maintain a healthy loan pipeline.
- Research & resolve member inquiries related to new and existing mortgage and home equity loans.
- Interview loan applicants and guide them through the loan application process.
- Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the loan lifecycle, including communicating credit decisions, drafting and delivering loan disclosures, collecting and reviewing required documentation, coordinating underwriting and closing, providing post-closing loan servicing support.
- Educate members on loan terms, interest rates, repayment options, and credit union policies.
- Clearly explain the features, benefits, and potential risks of various loan products.
- Ensure all loans comply with applicable regulations (e.g., RESPA, Reg Z, HPML, HOEPA, etc.).
- Support the launch and implementation of new products, services, and procedures as needed.
- Cross sell additional credit union products and services when appropriate.
Underwriting & Processing
- Serve as the primary point of contact and maintain ongoing communication with all parties involved throughout the loan process, including internal and external stakeholders.
- Gathers necessary documentation to prepare the loan file for underwriting.
- Submits the loan application for underwriting review.
- Work collaboratively with loan processors and loan underwriters to efficiently work through the loan process and collect all documents required for approval conditions.
- Communicates underwriting decisions to applicants.
- Ensures the loan complies with regulatory standards and credit union policies.
Risk Management
- Collaborate with the Fraud Department and Senior Management to reduce fraud risk and safeguard members.
- Ensure the origination of high-quality loans by diligently following Credit Union policies and procedures and adhering to regulatory requirements.
- Identify and report suspicious activity.
- Provide necessary information to complete: Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs), Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs), and other reports as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What Desired Qualifications You'll Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of three years' experience in mortgage lending within a financial services environment
- Proven ability to consistently self-generate at least $1 million in monthly loan volume
- Strong knowledge of: Loan origination process, underwriting criteria, secondary market guidelines.
- Experience with the following loan programs: FHA, VA, USDA, Reverse Mortgages, and Home Equity Loans & Lines.
- Availability during Credit Union business hours to include in person presence.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends to support branches and members.
- Must pass background and credit check.
- Must be eligible to register and maintain active status with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
- Must obtain a Notary Public License within 90 days of hire.

The Details
- Location: This position can be based out of our Lacey Branch or Yelm Branch.
- Pay range: $16.66 per hour base pay with opportunity for commission.
- Recruitment will remain open until the position is filled
