Job Description
Center for Human Development, (CHD), is currently looking for a Cook to join our team at Heron House, an Enhanced Medical Group Living Environment (EMGLE) program. This brand new 18-bed facility in East Longmeadow, MA allows you the ability to provide nutritionally prepared meals for the persons served.
A LITTLE ABOUT THE EMGLE FACILITY:
The Enhanced Medical GLE (EMGLE) provides a variety of skilled healthcare and supportive services including around the clock nursing and personal care assistance to Persons with mental illness in addition to compounding medical needs. These services are designed to meet and support the daily needs of Persons with chronic medical conditions, terminal illnesses and/or disabilities, which are impacted by their significant mental illness. These Persons require licensed and unlicensed professional services to meet their chronic complex medical and behavioral needs to ensure improvement or stabilization of their medical and behavioral condition. This model will also serve to maintain, prevent, or slow worsening of condition as well as assisting transition to a lower level of care setting or prevent hospitalization/nursing facility admissions.
A competitive hourly wage of $21.00 and an attractive benefit package are available with this full time Cook opportunity.
YOUR ROLE AS A COOK for EMGLE YOU WILL:
The Cook works within the Agency’s team model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among co-workers. The cook is part of a team that provides nutritionally prepared meals, three meals a day, 365 days each year.
The cook is responsible for the preparation and implementation of menus that meet the nutritional and other requirements of the Bureau of Nutrition; the cooking of meals, and compliance with all local, state, and federal sanitation and hygiene codes.
Requirements:
· Must be 21 years of age.
· Graduation from approved cooking school & Baking skills preferred.
· Knowledge of local, state, and federal sanitary and health codes.
· “Serve Safe” Certification, required or pass within probationary period.
· Must maintain a secure and safe kitchen and dining environment that meets fire, first aid, and other safety codes.
· Attend staff meetings as required.

· Strong written skills and experience with Electronic Health Record Management is a plus.
