Summary Description

Installs, maintains, and monitors the organization's local area network. Coordinates enterprise-wide security functions, including research and development, to provide recommendations on security initiatives and corresponding implementations. Specifies, manages, and maintains servers for services, security, and patch updates. Reviews and evaluates vendor products (software and hardware) and telecommunications equipment. Maintains, recommends, and implements LAN/WAN security standards, policies, and performance. Supervises the credit union helpdesk.

Essential Duties

  • Provide cabling, connection points, and resolve connection points, and resolve connection problems with network devices, and act as a point of contact regarding network health.
  • Measure and plan for present and future bandwidth requirements
  • Monitors telecommunications and network systems' effectiveness in meeting user needs and recommends improvements to ensure user or client requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Maintain network infrastructure documentation such as: network diagrams, network address ranges, VPN connections to 3rd party vendors, network equipment, and circuit identification
  • Secures and provisions users/workstations on the network according to policy
  • Maintain approved and authorized software/hardware inventory
  • Spec, orders, and deploy workstations and servers on the credit union network
  • Repair, upgrade, and maintain various workstation equipment and printers not covered by third-party agreements, to include: diagnosis of problems and repairs/installation of removable media, network cards, disk drives, and wireless equipment
  • Ensures control and monitoring are performed per policy
  • Maintain active directory infrastructure, replication services, and file system servers to ensure high availability of interactive login and networked drives
  • Ensure virus patterns are updated and employed for workstation scanning
  • Perform systematic patches, updates, upgrades, testing, and backups on network devices
  • Coordinate annual cybersecurity penetration test evaluations and remediate vulnerabilities to minimize threats to credit union systems. Monitor for and address potential cybersecurity threats.
  • Provide and test a disaster recovery plan for server and network services
  • Ensure server backups are performed according to policy
  • Coordinate and install new branches with various vendors, such as internet service providers, telstar, Microsoft, etc, ensuring operational deadlines
  • Ensures employees have the technological capability to provide consistent member service
  • Oversees the help desk and information systems technician staff
  • Complies with all federal, state, and organizational policies, procedures, and processes, including (but not limited to) the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Patriot Act, Graham-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Robbery Procedures
  • Oversees the daily operations of the MIS Staff in the absence of the Assistant Vice President (MIS) or the Vice President (MIS)
  • Fulfill other related duties as assigned by the Vice President (MIS) or chain-of-command thereof

Requirements

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field and/or six (6) years of related experience/education/training

Tests/Certificates/Licenses

  • A simulated skills assessment test may be administered

Skills/Competencies

  • Personal computer knowledge; skills in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Proficiency in administering various credit-union supported hardware, software, and operating systems, including configuration and connectivity
  • Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of charts, programming logic, and code
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (electronically and manually), such as but not limited to: interest, dividends, percentages, and apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of work and/or information
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply credit union/job/general guidelines and procedures
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and/or written communication skills (in-person and/or by telephone)
  • Demonstrated leadership, self-motivated, and team-oriented qualities
  • Conduct oneself in a professional and mature manner
  • Ability to proofread and edit accurately
  • Ability to teach and motivate others
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and work well under pressure
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy

  • Reliable transportation to travel to branch offices
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish); preferred, but not required
  • Working knowledge of credit union products and services, and information systems practices and procedures
