Job Description

The Operations and Security Technician is the 'eyes and ears' for Novva Data Centers. This role serves as the first line of support for Novva customers and provides logistical support for the facility. Main areas of responsibility include monitoring physical security, access control, mechanical, and power infrastructure systems. Performs operational rounds to ensure the facility's mechanical and power equipment is functioning properly and within range, and provides prompt response and escalation when needed. Follow established processes for resolving incidents, onboarding new customers, provisioning security credentials, and escorting individuals into the data center as needed. Other duties include maintaining entry logs and performing perimeter and facility physical security checks to ensure overall site security and cleanliness. Applicants should have excellent customer service skills and attention to detail. On-site training will be provided. The role is heavily focused on physical security and customer service.

Shift/hours:

12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends.

Responsibilities:

High-level responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor and respond to onsite access activity via CCTV and access control software.
  • Monitor and respond to alerts from various system monitoring tools
  • Identify critical system issues with large-scale impact and escalate appropriately
  • Provide professional and timely customer service
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and service requests.
  • Respond to incidents and requests via phone and IT ticketing system
  • Understand basic Windows application troubleshooting principles
  • Provide support to internal teams
  • Receive/offload facility deliveries

Skills:

  • Ability to follow established processes and procedures

  • Tracking of all work via a ticketing system

  • Work and communicate effectively with others

  • Understanding of data centers and the roles they play in the industry

  • PC / Windows / MS Office Savvy

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: High School Diploma
  • Preferred: Associate Degree and/or equivalent corresponding work experience in a Data Center space
