Montgomery College, Germantown has an immediate need for a Grounds Maintenance Worker. The work schedule is Monday- Friday, 6:00am- 2:30pm. This is a Bargaining, non-Exempt, grade 15 position. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain campus grounds by providing a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for the College community.
  • Responsibilities include landscaping (mowing, blowing, trimming, sidewalk edging, maintenance of beds, planting, seeding, fertilizing, pruning, leaf and debris removal), painting curbs around campus, operating campus vehicles as well as maintaining heavy industrial type and other equipment (tune-ups, changing of belts, tire repair, sharpening of tools and adding/changing fluids), removing dead animals, removing graffiti and trash (recycled and bulk items), cleaning parking lots and sidewalks using the green machine and/or street sweeper where applicable.
  • Additional responsibilities include removing snow and ice during inclement weather and keeping storm drains and roof free of debris.
  • Assist with special events such as the annual commencement and the security department during emergencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and any combination of education, training and/or experience providing understanding of the field and the ability to perform the duties of the job.
  • One year of related experience. Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of lawn equipment, planting and maintenance of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Experience operating snow removal equipment such as tractors and trucks with blades.
  • Incumbents must possess and maintain at all times a Class C Driver's License from the applicant's state of residence.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.

Hiring Range: $19.29 - $24.11 hourly. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $28.94.
