Job Description

Summary 

 

New Charter Technologies is seeking an experienced Tax Generalist to support our growing organization’s multi-state tax compliance efforts. This role will focus on payroll tax, sales & use tax, and state income tax filings, while also assisting with entity structuring, FEIN closures, and roll-ups into corporate entities. The ideal candidate has a strong background in multi-state tax regulations, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across teams. This position will work closely with finance, HR and external advisors to ensure tax compliance and process efficiency. 

 

 

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Manage multi-state payroll tax registrations, filings, and payments, ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations. 

  • Oversee sales and use tax reporting, including return preparation, taxability analysis, and regulatory compliance. 

  • Assist with state and local income tax filings and payments. 

  • Facilitate the closure of company FEINs and integration into corporate entities as part of entity restructuring. 

  • Conduct research on multi-state tax regulations, interpret tax law changes, and provide recommendations for compliance strategies. 

  • Identify opportunities to streamline tax compliance processes and enhance reporting efficiency. 

  • Identify areas of sales tax exposure risk and refund opportunities. 

  • Work closely with accounting, HR, and payroll teams to address tax compliance needs and resolve tax-related issues. 

 

Skills & Experience 

  • 5+ years of tax experience, with expertise in multi-state tax compliance. 

  • Proficient Excel skills and ability to handle large data sets 

  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax, sales & use tax, and state income tax filings. 

  • Experience in closing company FEINs and rolling them into corporate structures. 

  • Ability to analyze tax laws, conduct research, and interpret regulations. 

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. 

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain tax concepts to non-tax professionals. 

  • Workday experience is a plus, but not . 

 

Environment Work & Schedule: 

 

  • Remote role with preference for candidates based in Denver, CO. 

  • Must have the ability to work within Central Time Zone hours. 
     

  • Compensation is expected to start at $75K + depending on experience
