Job Description
Our immediate need is for teaching expertise in first-year engineering graphics and CAD. There may be opportunities to teach upper-level mechanical or interdisciplinary engineering courses.
GVSU’s engineering programs lead to the Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE) degree. The BSE program consists of project-intensive ABET-accredited majors in Biomedical, Computer, Electrical, Interdisciplinary, Mechanical, and Product Design and Manufacturing Engineering with mandatory co-op education experiences. Sponsored by local industry, these programs yield job-ready, as well as graduate-school ready, engineering graduates.
All candidates must be committed to the highest quality of laboratory and project-based teaching with excellent verbal and written communication skills. An ability to participate in and capitalize upon existing collaborations with our West Michigan industrial partners is also highly valued.
Required Qualifications and Education:
- A master’s degree in engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications and Education:
- A PhD (or ABD) in engineering is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who also possess industrial and/or project-based experience. Industrial experience related to design projects would be highly beneficial. The ability to teach broadly in one’s field and an interest in general curriculum development are desired.
Responsibilities – Essential Functions:
- The candidate must be able to teach effectively to students who are in their first year of our engineering program.
Responsibilities – Non-Essential Functions:
- It would be beneficial if the candidate contributed to continuous improvement of the curriculum.
Minimum Starting Salary: $60,000; Commensurate with experience.
