Residential Life Manager - Position Overview:
- The Residential Life Manager is responsible for the overall supervision of the Residential Life team, including Residential Life Coordinator, Residential Life Scheduler, Lead Residential Care Specialists (Lead RCS), and Residential Care Specialists (RCS), in order to create a therapeutic and balanced environment.
- This position works closely with the CARES Center Director, medical, and clinical teams to promote a therapeutic environment in a trauma informed way to plan, organize, and administer solution services.
- The Residential Life Manager oversees five (5) units housing children ages 6-17 in a residential setting.
- This position must be able to effectively demonstrate Canopy's mission and quality leadership skills in order to establish a balanced solution in correlation to services across all shifts to enhance the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development of clients.
Job Responsibilities:
Administrative/Supervision
- Provide and document regular supervision with Residential Life Coordinator and Scheduler to discuss pertinent issues relative to their solution /services and to address concerns.
- Monitor solution for proper utilization of staff and material resources to achieve objectives.
- Assist in all final written warnings and terminations for Lead RCS and RCS.
- Ensure all Residential Life staff are in compliance in conjunction with the Legal team.
- Perform annual evaluations on all employees under supervision.
- Approve time sheets for all designated staff on a bi-weekly basis.
- Will participate in an on-call rotation for the solution afterhours, and may include onsite hours on weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Communicate directly with internal and/or external customers to assure proper resolution of concerns and satisfaction or inquiries.
- Work with Lead RCS team to establish and maintain environment that encourages teamwork, interdependence, and ethical behavior.
Fidelity
- Monitor and audit RCS documentation including behavior sheets, emergency safety intervention sheets, sleep logs, observation sheets, personal possessions logs, and call logs.
- Ensure all documents are properly uploaded and signed.
- Monitor schedules to ensure shifts are fully staffed according to our regulations.
Hiring
- Hire and terminate personnel, in consultation with the Solution Director and Human Resources.
- In conjunction with talent acquisition team, select candidates for core value interviews weekly for RCS positions.
- In conjunction with the Residential Life Coordinator and Lead RCS, interview and select candidates for Residential Care Specialist positions when there are openings specific to shift needs.
- Assist with initial onboarding and training for RCS as needed.
- Maintain an understanding of and communicate all hiring needs per shift to ensure proper staffing of RCS on all shifts daily.
Leadership
- Consult with Clinical Director and Solution Director, as needed.
- Work collaboratively with all solution (clinical, case management, nursing, education, admissions, etc.) to ensure a well-planned and cooperative total organizational team approach to solution and services.
- Actively involved in planning and delivery of training related to own area of expertise and needs of solution supervised.
- With Solution Director, maintain organization and departmental procedure manuals recommending changes affecting solution operations.
Safety and Therapeutic Milieu
- Assure the safety of the facility and clients by reporting environment of care concerns/problems.
- Develop plans to decrease the number and severity of significant events pertaining to individuals served.
- Assure the safety and security of staff and youth in the care of the PRTF.
- Monitor Residential Care Specialist interactions with clients and others to assure that such is appropriate and therapeutic at all times.
- Participate in scheduled training opportunities to meet and maintain the specific staff training requirements of licensing and accrediting agencies.
- Assure all organizational policies and procedures are followed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a behavioral health or Social Work related field required, Master's Degree preferred.
- License or certification preferred but not required.
- Minimum of two (2) years' supervisory experience required with the knowledge of consultation, training, evaluation, and/or administration acquired from hands on experience.
- Experience working with children and adolescents required.
- Preference to applicants that have worked in a residential setting.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to be covered by the organization's insurance provider.
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English, and be able to communicate in a therapeutic and professional manner.
