Description:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for direct patient care tasks as assigned and under supervision of professional nursing personnel. Also provides indirect care to maintain unit functions as directed by the professional nursing staff i.e. care and cleaning of specific equipment, transportation of patients, stocking of supplies and equipment, etc.

Education and Training- High school graduate or equivalent.

Experience- Prior clinical experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who are pursuing higher education in the health care field. Long term care experience preferred.

POOL position requires holidays and weekends.

  • Certified Nurse Assistant required. Current BCLS required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to perform diversified duties with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy. Prior clinical experience preferred. Long term care experience preferred. Position is 12-hour shifts.
  • Performs hygiene/comfort measures including bath/shower, mouth care, shaving etc.
    • Demonstrates skills necessary to assist the licensed nurse in monitoring/evaluation of the patient i.e. (vital signs, intake and output, weighing).
  • -Demonstrates essential knowledge and skill in caring for an agitated/confused patient (de-escalation techniques, distraction, etc)
  • -Demonstrates ability to assist patients in activities of daily living i.e. (set up trays, feeds patients, delivers snacks, dysphasia protocols, determines need for toileting, determines need for comfort measures, refills water pitchers, answers patient call light etc).
  • Repositions residents every 2 hours or as needed to maintain circulation and prevention of pressure ulcers.
  • -Demonstrates essential knowledge and skill in caring for the diabetic resident (signs and symptoms of hyper/hypo glycemia, foot care etc.)
    • Provides 1:1 suicide/close observation. falls prevention precautions as assigned.
  • Never leaves resident alone.
  • Remains within arm's length.
  • Reports any problems to RN immediately.
  • Monitors potential risk factors when performing 1:1 monitoring close observation.
  • Maintains nursing assistant duties for resident.
  • Interacts with resident during 1:1/close observation.
  • Responsible for all resident comfort measures, i.e. blankets, pillows, call bells, etc.
  • Obtain Vital Signs and Weights document in EMR. Measuring and documenting intake and output in EMR.
