HDR is looking for a Traffic EIT to join our South Carolina Area Transportation Business Group. This role may be based out of the following South Carolina Area offices: Charleston-SC. In this role, we'll count on you to:
- Work as part of a traffic team under the direction of the Project Engineer/Manager on a variety of traffic forecasting, analysis and design needs for a variety of transportation projects
- Conduct operational traffic analysis using a variety of modeling tools, ranging from highway capacity software to complex micro simulation models; analyze everything from isolated intersections and roundabouts to urban arterials and freeway segments
- Participate in traffic signal design and traffic signal timing projects; including but not limited to, drafting signal plans, conducting field visits, preparing signal timing calculations, developing quantity takeoffs and preparing cost estimates.
- Take a proactive approach to learning, developing your skillset, and understanding the industry
- Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering
- EIT or ability to obtain within 12 months. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Traffic Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
- Computer skills using Microsoft Office, Synchro/Sim Traffic, HCS, AutoCAD and MicroStation
- Local candidates are preferred
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
Conduct traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software
Conduct operational analysis using a variety of analysis and modeling tools specific to support job duties, including HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
Conduct safety analysis using a variety of safety software tools including Highway Safety Software
Strong verbal and written skills
Ability to multitask while working on many projects at once
