Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner provides care for patients in Woman's Behavioral Health Clinic in collaboration with the Psychiatrist under the direct supervision of the Physician Practice Management. This position also works closely with clinic staff, Medical Director, physicians, referring agencies and physicians, pharmacy and lab staff.
Patient populations of the Behavioral health clinic include, but are not limited to:
- OB patients age 18 or over
- Patients experiencing stillbirths, miscarriages, ectopic pregnancy or infant death
- GYN patients with expressed needs
- Patients newly diagnosed with cancer
- Patients who require medication management for mental health issues such as anxiety, depression or trauma which may or may not be within the context of pregnancy or postpartum, fetal, or infant loss, cancer treatment, and obstetric or gynecology patients with expressed needs.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Requires Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) license. Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner preferred
- Prescriptive authority in the state of Louisiana is required or the application process to obtain must be submitted within 5 business days of hire
- Prefer a minimum of three years of related nurse practitioner experience, preferably in a psychiatry specialty clinic, hospital, or a surgical setting
Responsibilities of Nurse Practitioner include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates independence, competency, and accuracy in all work tasks, including those directly and indirectly related to patient care; consistently and competently provides ongoing primary healthcare services in conformance with established standards of care and administrative policies and procedures.
- Maintains current knowledge concerning principles and practice of perinatal mental health disorders through current literature, journal subscriptions, attendance at workshops and seminars, membership in professional organizations, and licensure maintenance.
- Creates and maintains accurate records, appropriate legal documents, and other reports of patient care consistent with the requirements of local, state and/or federal regulatory agencies.
- Conduct thorough health assessments, including medical history, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings; Formulate differential diagnoses based on assessment findings.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans based on the assessment findings, medical history, and specific mental health needs of the patient; Seek consultation or refer patients to specialists when appropriate.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic mental health conditions; Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions as needed;
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding their mental health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care measures; Emphasize health promotion and disease prevention strategies during patient encounters
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting assessments, care plans, interventions, and patient progress.
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
- Perform other duties assigned by department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Woman's Hospital.

Monday- Friday, 7:30am- 4:30pm
Pay
$44.64 to $73.66 based on experience
