Summary
The IT Specialist/Applications Programmer (ITSAP) is responsible for helping develop and support the software environment of the Co-op. The ITSAP helps analyze and develop solutions for end-user business requirements.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of enterprise-level applications and custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces, functions and features.
- Contributes to designing, prototyping, developing, documenting, analyzing, testing, maintenance, and modifications of custom applications and systems.
- Uses a variety of platforms to assist in the implementation of systems and applications for the organization.
- Works with other departments to analyze business requirements, helps create and implement solutions that satisfy these requirements.
- Helps maintain and improve the software that runs City Market's websites.
- Develop and document data sources available to the organization. Analyze data for insights and opportunities.
- Assists in the creation of customized queries of our Finance, Membership, HR, and POS applications to facilitate access to information as needed.
- Observe and audit department systems and suggest efficiencies and improvements. Identify systems that are inadequate or underdeveloped for a business of our scale and work with departments to improve them.
- Applies best practices regarding preventing and correcting security vulnerabilities in software and procedures.
- Works with ITMAD and IT Colleagues to develop the technical skills of our employees.
- Administers application databases and supports their operation.
- Reviews and analyze existing applications to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of those applications; reviews requests for applications required to meet needs of City Market.
- Creates documentation on in-house developed and customized applications.
- Assist in the Development and maintenance of City Market's Intranet.
- Has access to management and non-management data and ability to search through data at management's request and is responsible for protecting and analyzing such data.
- Provides support and creates customized queries in support of HR investigations and will analyze data regarding employee use of IT resources for the purposes of HR investigations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field; or a minimum of 4 years of experience in a Developer or similar technical role.
- Demonstrated understanding of computer science fundamentals and programming principles.
- Knowledge of natural and conventional foods and the food industry preferred.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong expertise in Excel and VBA programming.
- Experience writing and optimizing SQL queries.
- Hands-on experience with programming languages such as PHP and Python.
- Familiarity with content management systems, particularly Drupal or similar platforms.
- Experience working with Symfony or comparable PHP frameworks.
- Proficient in front-end JavaScript frameworks, especially React.
- Comfortable using version control systems, particularly Git.
- Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
- Familiarity with service and project management tools such as Jira is a plus.
