A day in the life…

Wondering what a day in the life of a Maintenance Technician at The Iowa Clinic might look like?

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance throughout The Iowa Clinic buildings, monitoring building systems and equipment for any issues. Make needed repairs within scope of job duties and abilities. Coordinate service work with vendor services as needed. Represent The Iowa Clinic in a positive, professional manner both internally and externally.

Essential Functions

1. Demonstrates ability to consistently meet the department work schedule.

2. Schedules and performs routine preventative maintenance on building equipment and systems.

3. Performs general repairs and service to building systems, lighting, plumbing, etc.

4. Responsible for ensuring TIC building standards are followed.

5. Works with Facilities Supervisor on expense approval to stay within budget.

6. Required to be on call for assigned building in addition to scheduled work hours for early morning, late evening, and weekend hours and is expected to manage off hour emergencies and issues to resolution.

7. Assures regulatory compliance in areas of responsibility. Maintains awareness of applicable laws and/or regulations and assumes accountability for enhancing knowledge to pro-actively keep updated on applicable regulatory issues/changes, including but not limited to OSHA, ADA, and HIPAA. Recognizes implications of applicable laws and/or regulations and implements or recommends course of action to ensure compliance.

8. Maintains awareness of own safety in carrying out duties and responsibilities. Adheres to universal precautions and infection control policies and procedures.

9. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and corporate/physician financial information.

10. Represents the organization in a professional manner both internally and externally. Promotes positive interpersonal relationships. Responds to all customer or management requests in a courteous and professional manner. Interacts in a competent manner with outside vendors and the community.

This job might be for you if you have…

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Driver's License
• 1-4 years' experience in a maintenance or mechanical/carpentry/construction type work
• Experience in a commercial real estate setting preferred
• Knowledge of HVAC systems with ability to assess and make general repairs is ideal!
