What would a typical day be like?
- Manage the mechanical automation engineering team to develop high-precision automated solutions for the life science sector.
- Oversee daily engineering operations, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and within budget.
- Support the design and development of automation systems, robotics, and precision machinery.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, suppliers, and customers to ensure seamless integration.
- Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
- Review and optimize engineering processes to enhance automation performance and reliability.
- Stay current with life science industry standards and quality requirements.
What qualifies you for this opportunity?
- A minimum of five years' experience managing engineering teams in the industrial automation space, specifically in the Life Science sector, is required.
- At least eight years of mechanical automation engineering experience.
- Strong background in designing automated systems, robotics, and precision machinery.
- Expertise in CAD modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Geometric Dimensioning and
- Tolerance analysis (GD&T) ability.
- Proficiency in working with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 standards and SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to optimize mechanical designs for manufacturability and cost efficiency.
- An ability to travel; although this position is hybrid, travel is required. You should have the ability to travel within US, Canada, and occasionally to the UK.
- Tenacity to solve problems and take ownership of solutions with a sense of urgency.
- Direct experience in designing systems including: vision systems, robotics, web handling, complex precision motion control, crimping, laser ablation/welding/finishing, swaging, material joining, dispensing and a multitude of other life science industry focused manufacturing processes.
- Experience with IQ, OQ, PQ protocols and ability to develop/interpret test scripts to aid in equipment validation.
- Experience with UL/CE certifications and compliance.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
- Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Occasionally lifts or move up to 25 pounds
