Job Summary
The Associate Medical Director provides medical administrative leadership, oversight, and education to CHOC Health Alliance (CHA) Ambulatory Utilization Management (UM) and Case Management (CM). Is an engaged leader who ensures the provision of quality patient care.
The Associate Medical Director will participate in interdisciplinary care team (ICT) meetings with patients and families, and may be called upon to address clinical questions related to case management and/or utilization management.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Medi-Cal patients, and an understanding of DHCS policies and procedures.
This is a full time, hybrid position, based out of our Orange campus.
Pay Range
Minimum $99.80 Midpoint $132.22 Maximum $164.67
Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
- Required: Minimum two (2) years of clinical practice experience in General Pediatrics.
- Preferred: One (1) or more years of clinical administrative experience. One (1) or more years of utilization management experience.
Education
- Required: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy.
Training
- Required: Three (3) years and successful completion of Pediatric Residency in an accredited ACGME program.
- Preferred: MMM, MBA, or completion of ACPE, AAPL or similar physician leadership training.

- Required: Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Ability to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; work independently; perform basic math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments; compose written material; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail.
Licensure
- Required: Board certification with the American Board of Pediatrics; California Medical license.
