Job Description Summary

The Department of Social Work at Saint Leo University seeks a dedicated and experienced Instructor & Field Practice Education/Internship Supervisor to coordinate our practicum education program for undergraduate and graduate programs. This is a 12-month campus- based position for a candidate with a strong background in social work education, an ability to foster partnerships with community agencies, and a commitment to supporting a diverse student population.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Qualifications:

  • Master's in Social Work from an accredited program with 2 years post-graduate experience.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in networking and working collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of the D2L Platform is helpful but training does exist for this online platform
  • Previous experience in field placements and/or practicums as a field director/administrator/manager/supervisor with responsibility for both the Bachelor and Master of Social Work placements.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). (Preferred)

Knowledge:

  • Familiarity with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accreditation standards. (Preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of community partners to engage in active recruitment of students and field partnerships
  • Knowledge of online teaching platforms and experience in teaching online (Preferred)
  • Content knowledge, values, and skills of Social Work discipline

  • Ability to travel for student, alumni, and partnership engagements and to campus for periodic meetings

Duties and Tasks:

  • Ability to teach undergraduate courses offered either on-ground or in a hybrid format.
  • Responsible for academic advising and related activities.
  • Lead recruitment activities
  • Participate in CSWE accreditation processes
  • Collaborate with BSW and MSW Depts. on field placements, service learning, and professional development
  • Ensure the field education program is meeting the CSWE field standards.
  • Arrange and manage practice education/ internship experiences for all social work students.
  • Recruit and develop university affiliation agreements with community placement sites.
  • Conduct interviews with students to determine suitable placements.
  • Complete written documentation of students' practice education experiences and develop necessary field documents.
  • Provide training and ongoing support for internship instructors and liaisons.
  • Collaborate with faculty to integrate practice education with classroom learning.
  • Analyze and resolve placement-related issues, ensuring a smooth transition for students into agencies.
  • Make informed decisions regarding placement site suitability and program policies.
  • Maintain regular communication with students, faculty, and community partners regarding practice education processes.
  • Maintain the online database for both programs and monitor student and agency data within the system.
  • The Supervisor will spend 50% of the time coordinating internships for the MSW program, 25% coordinating internships for the BSW program, and 25% developing and recruiting field partners.

  • Teaching Philosophy - (500 words or less), should highlight how your teaching philosophy and practices fit the Mission and Values of Saint Leo University.

  • Three (3) Letters of Recommendation- All letters of recommendation should be professional references and at least one (1) from a recent superior. If you do not have those documents at the time of application, please upload a text or word document stating, "Recommendations will be sent independently." Recommendation letters can be mailed to Academic Affairs at the address stated below

  • Student Evaluations (six classes minimum)- Student evaluations from the last year (at least six classes, an even mix of graduate and undergraduate).

TRANSCRIPTS

Official transcripts are required for all adjuncts and all final full-time faculty candidates

Official transcripts for Master, Graduate, and Doctorate degrees are required to complete your application packet and are to be issued directly to Saint Leo University from the respective education institution.*

Transcripts that are "Issued to Student" or issued to another institution are not accepted. Digital and/or electronic transcripts cannot be accepted at this time.

World Education Services (WES) Evaluation- A certified evaluation and translation from World Education Services (WES) is required for foreign transcripts and/or any and all degrees obtained from international universities. Expenses for official transcripts are the responsibility of the applicant.
