Job Description
The Director of Design Verification is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of design verification activities related to new product development, qualification, and certification. This role ensures that products meet defined requirements, applicable safety standards, and regulatory compliance from concept through production release.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee design verification activities across the engineering organization, providing clear direction, mentorship, and support to ensure team effectiveness and technical excellence.
- Define and execute strategic plans for design verification, ensuring alignment with program milestones, product development goals, and organizational priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and traceability of design verification processes in accordance with industry best practices.
- Ensure all verification activities meet applicable aerospace regulations and certification standards (e.g., DO-160, DO-254, etc.).
- Partner with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and systems teams to integrate verification activities seamlessly across the product lifecycle.
- Oversee the development, review, and approval of verification plans, test reports, and supporting documentation to meet internal and regulatory requirements.
- Identify technical and programmatic risks related to verification activities and implement mitigation strategies to ensure safe and reliable product outcomes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal leadership, customers, and regulatory agencies regarding design verification strategy, status, and outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a related field (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace preferred)
- 15+ years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 10 years in the aerospace industry.
- 9+ years of management experience in product development design verification, qualification, certification or a related field.
- Strong background in FAA certification processes. Proficiency in design verification tools and methodologies including FAA and EASA regulations, ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-160, DO-178 and DO-254.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers including test technicians
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and project management skills with the ability to interface with all levels of management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills enabling data-driven decisions.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Benefits
The starting pay range for this position is $137,000 - 164,000 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
