Job Description
Position Summary:
Provide treatment, evaluation, monitoring and management of patients with breathing disorders or cardiovascular problems. Respiratory Therapy practices under the direction of the physicians.
Excellence in Practice:
Experience: No experience necessary. BLS certified, ACLS preferred.
License Requirements: Current licensure in ND
Provide treatment, evaluation, monitoring and management of patients with breathing disorders or cardiovascular problems. Respiratory Therapy practices under the direction of the physicians.
Excellence in Practice:
- Accurately assess and monitor patients requiring RT treatments. Knowledgeable regarding RT medications and the expected outcomes and adverse reactions.
- Documentation is complete: Assessment of lungs, treatment, evaluation, care plan, smoking cessation, equipment set-up, supplies and education.
- Consults with nursing and physicians to modify plan of care as needed.
- Technical skills: O2, PFT’s, EEG, EKG, BAT, UDT, Mist Tent Treatments and Ventilator.
- Provide education to patients and families – good communication skills/informs other disciplines as appropriate.
- Accurate charges – billing.
- Evaluate equipment needs – send requests for faulty equipment. Informs CNO if equipment needed in next budgeted year.
- Completes Quality Assurance for the RT Department and updates policy and procedure manual annually
- Complete assignments timely and with accuracy.
- Good time management, able to prioritize and is available when needed.
