Job Description

Position Summary:

The Energy Management System (EMS) Analyst (Associate) will provide Energy/Generation Management System (EMS/GMS) support for the growing and increasingly complex TPS EMS/SCADA system. The position is responsible to maintain the highest system reliability, availability, integrity and security of the EMS/SCADA system in support of TPS Operations, Asset Management business units and associated customers.

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform ongoing EMS/SCADA system modeling, maintenance, administration, and upgrade activities
  • Perform project planning, coordination, development, and implementation of various customer projects by adhering to change management processes
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues to resolution independently, collaboratively with the EMS/SCADA team, and with OSII vendor engagement
  • Support EMS related activities such as updating databases, displays, operation and maintenance of OSII Monarch System and Sub-systems and interfaces with internal and external systems
  • Work directly with IT maintaining, improving, and implementing communications, hardware, and software infrastructure
  • Understand and implement various SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) protocol communications to remote devices and control centers
  • Configure and modify EMS databases and ensure that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate
  • Understand and implement various ISO (Independent System Operator) protocols, operations philosophies and telemetry requirements to maintain grid operator reliability and compliance
  • Support, configure, model and maintain remote terminal units (RTUs) as needed
  • Develop and maintain SCADA displays and one-lines
  • Calculation development utilizing the ‘C’ programming language and deployment of such calculations
  • Support internal business units and external customer business and data needs
  • Maintain and support system interfacing historical data systems
  • Perform technical analysis to define customer requirements
  • Communicate effectively with customers, field personnel, contractors, vendors, and ISO contacts
  • Produce deliverables with deadlines and ensure various project completion
  • Utilize documented procedures and processes to achieve system reliability and efficiency
  • Perform rotating 24x7 on-call duties to support all EMS/SCADA related issues and provide after-hours support for the EMS/SCADA systems as needed
  • Dependable, reliable, and predictable attendance is required

Education, Experience & Skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.  The Company is not able to take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time for this position or commit to doing so in the future for individuals with current authorization to work via, for example, CPT or OPT, and would need sponsorship in the future.
  • Minimum requirements include of undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited College or University.
  • 0-2 years’ work experience in Energy Management Systems/SCADA environments, telecommunications, field technician/engineering, or a bulk electric system control center and/or plant instrumentation & controls environment
  • Ability to perform technical analysis to define customer requirements
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills and ability to work on several projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail oriented with the ability to remain focused on the accuracy of task completion
  • Positive attitude and willingness to proactively self-educate and learn new technologies and concepts as needed
  • Proficiency in MS Windows and MS Office; proficiency in MSSQL is a plus
  • Able to adapt to a flexible work schedule at times to support system maintenance, upgrades, and IT Infrastructure projects
  • This role is not eligible for remote work and requires full-time presence at our Irving, Texas location.
