Assistant Sports Information Director/Director of Gameday Operations
Assistant Sports Information Director/Director of Gameday Operations is a member of the administrative staff of the Chatham University athletic department. This is a dual report role where the Assistant Sports Information Director/Director of Gameday Operations reports to the Associate Athletic Director/Director of Communications & VP of Athletics & Recreation. Key role will be gameday management/sport oversight for assigned sports.
This position directly supervises student support personnel as well as directs all coaches in the aspects in the areas of NCAA reporting, and internal and external media relations.
In conjunction with the goals and vision of the Athletic Department the Assistant Sports Information Director/Director of Gameday Operations supervises a program that successfully promotes Chatham student-athletes, coaches, and athletics in all appropriate venues and that increases both public participation in, and local, state, and national recognition of, Chatham athletics. This position also serves as on-site administrator for home contests when needed, maintaining all aspects of sports information and gameday operations.
As Assistant Sports Information Director/Director of Gameday Operations, the position oversees all NCAA regulations and compliance in the areas of communication for all department personnel.
A member of the NCAA Division III and the Presidents’ Athletics Conference (PAC)/ United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) the position is responsible for the overall management and operation of the sports information and game management area. This includes structural and administrative organization of the program as outlined in the responsibilities listed below:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary media contact for several of Chatham's 24 varsity sports. Responsible for the direction of the sports information office in the design, writing and distribution of press releases. The sports information office is responsible for website maintenance, statistical recordkeeping, live stats and live streaming for all home events, fielding media requests and promoting awareness of the program to the local and national media outlets.
- Ensure adherence to rules, regulations, and policies of all governing bodies (Chatham University, PAC/UCHC and NCAA) for all 24 sports with special emphasis in the areas of social media and other forms of communications as regulated by governing bodies.
- Serve as the on-site administrator for Graham Field for all Chatham University athletic contests. Oversee sport information and gameday operations at all site venues to provide professional game day experience.
- Direct and coordinate all logistical aspects of gameday operations for varsity athletic events for the athletic department.
- Knowledge and ability to set-up, test and perform basic troubleshooting of electronic equipment as it relates to athletic gameday operations including but not limited to scoreboards, communication devices, and electronic media tables.
- Responsible for the hiring, training, and supervision of student employees on all aspects of gameday operations for the office of sports information/game management.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Associate Athletic Directors.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, independent decision making and ability to exercise good judgment, computer proficiency and valid driver’s license.
