Join us at The Oregon Clinic as a Part-Time Scribe (16 hours per week). Work alongside a collaborative team of patient-focused colleagues and physicians in our thriving General Surgery & Burn Specialists Clinic practice located in North Portland. By providing patients and internal and external stakeholders with a consistent, efficient, and easy experience, you'll help ensure that patients at The Oregon Clinic General Surgery & Burn Specialists receive the highest value care tailored to their needs.

Using excellent customer service and communications skills, your primary duties in this role include:

  • Accurately and thoroughly documents medical visits and procedures as the physician is performing them. This includes knowledge of specific shorthand and acronyms relating to the specialty.
  • Reviewing patient history and notes prior to patient's visit and completing all notes at conclusion of patient appointment to ensure medical records are comprehensive and accurate. Additionally, any necessary changes to patient history and medical records should be made under the physician's direction.
  • Understands the operations within the medical department and assists with other duties within the department as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary: Hiring range, based on experience and credentials: $18.65 - $25.23 per hour.

Workdays: This role is located at the Legacy Emanuel Medical Office Building 2. Typical hours are Monday-Friday (Varied schedule, Part-time position requiring availability from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a total of 16 hours per week). The scribe schedule is set every 2-4 weeks for planning.

Qualifications that support success in this role are based on education, experience and values including:

  • Prior experience in a clinical environment is strongly preferred. Scribe and/or specialty care experience is a plus!
  • Current or recent enrollment in a pre-med program, and a desire to continue education in medicine, is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications and EMR experience is preferred. EPIC Experience is a plus!
  • Strong medical terminology and writing skills (spelling proficiency).
  • Quick and accurate typing/data entry (85-90wpm minimum).
  • Seeking individuals who can give at least a one-year commitment.
  • Prior Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred. Epic experience is a plus!
  • Excellent attendance and work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and desire to be a team player.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with patients, physicians and other team members.
  • A commitment to patient-focused care, privacy, and safety.
