Job Description
About Mach Industries
Founded in 2022, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 120 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition.
Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security.
The Role
Mach Industries is seeking Mechanical Design Engineers to join our groundbreaking new division, Mach Propulsion. We are on a mission to revolutionize the high-performance small turbine engine by rethinking the fundamentals to enable high-rate, scalable manufacturing. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of propulsion from the ground up. We're looking for engineers with deep expertise in propulsion, powertrain systems, or high-speed rotating machinery. Looking for those who thrive in diverse, fast-paced, high-expectation environments and are driven to build what's never been built before.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Development: Lead the design of turbojet engine components and systems using advanced engineering tools such as CAD, CFD, and FEA. Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings in Siemens NX, ensuring high-performance, manufacturable designs.
End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of hardware from concept through to deployment. Make critical design decisions, perform and present trade studies, and iterate rapidly. Drive your designs through build and test cycles-prove them on the dyno, then bring them to life at the flight line.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the central engineering point of contact, working closely with production, machining, maintenance, quality, and other engineering teams to ensure that components are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and are ready for operational use.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally focused on engine systems, drivetrain components, high-speed rotating machinery, or similarly complex mechanical assemblies.
Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling with Siemens NX and experience managing data within Teamcenter or similar PLM systems.
GD&T Expertise: Proficient in applying ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure precise, manufacturable, and inspection-ready designs.
Engineering Fundamentals: Solid understanding of structural design principles, materials science, heat transfer, and modern manufacturing methods.
Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Hands-On Capability: Proven experience in prototyping, testing, and iterating mechanical systems. Comfortable moving between the design bench and the test stand.
Export Compliance: Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) due to access requirements for export-controlled technology and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Turbomachinery & Propulsion Experience: Prior experience designing or developing turbomachinery components, small turbine engines, or air-breathing propulsion systems for aerospace or defense applications.
Design for Manufacturability: Familiarity with high-rate manufacturing methods and strong understanding of design-for-manufacturability (DFM) principles.
Advanced Materials: Knowledge of advanced materials-such as composites and high-temperature alloys-and their effective application in propulsion and thermal environments.
Test & Integration: Experience with test rig design, engine integration, or validation of flight hardware in ground or airborne environments.
Defense Standards: Understanding of defense industry regulations, standards, and qualification requirements for airborne propulsion systems.
