Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing mental health screenings, in person and telehealth individual therapy, and managing counseling and psychiatry waitlists. The staff will initiate and facilitate referrals for inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, counseling and other mental health treatment services.

This position serves youth and families with diverse backgrounds of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity; comfort and expertise in cultural congruency is extremely important. A positive youth development approach and shared youth decision-making are incorporated into all client services.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides psychotherapy services for families of patients, focusing on family ability to understand and deal with case.

  • Conducts family therapy with participants in research study, including documentation and charting using computer-based systems.

  • Prepares psychosocial reports and maintains necessary records.

  • Schedules patient appointments and provides telephone follow-up contact.

  • Facilitates referrals and community resources for patients/families.

  • Meets with psychiatrists and resource agents concerning assessment and on-going issues.

  • Verifies insurance coverage for patients.

  • Answers inquiries from patients/families about community resources.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).
  • AAMFT, ASLPC, LCSW, LPC, CPC, LMFT or licensed Psychologist in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ]Minimum of two years mental health and substance abuse assessment and treatment with youth.
  • Experience providing telehealth counseling.
  • Background and expertise in working with youth and young adults who are LGBTQIA+ - identified and/or persons of color.
  • Ability to thrive in a hybrid (office and remote) environment providing mental health services to clients and collaborating with colleagues.

Salary Range

$56,200.00 - $87,100.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
