Job Description
Are you passionate about protecting others and ensuring a safe, welcoming environment? Meritus Health is seeking dedicated Security Officers to safeguard our hospital community-including patients, visitors, staff, and property-at both Meritus Health and the Meritus School of Osteopathic Medicine.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols to prevent theft, vandalism, and injuries
- Monitor assigned security posts (e.g., Women's & Children's, Front Lobby, Control Room)
- Patrol the Emergency Department and Behavioral Health areas
- Provide excellent customer service, offering assistance and directions to visitors
- Enforce parking and traffic regulations on campus
- Maintain detailed documentation of security activities
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
Experience: At least 6 months of prior security experience preferred
Certifications:
Maryland State Police Security Guard Card (preferred or attainable within 90 days)
BLS (CPR) certification required
De-Escalation training (required within 90 days of hire)
Driver's License: Valid license and clean record (preferred)
Physical & Mental Requirements
- Must be able to walk, stand, and climb frequently
- Regular exposure to a healthcare setting with potential safety hazards
- High attention to detail and strong communication skills (oral & written)
