Job Description

Reports to: Logistics Manager

FLSA: Non-Exempt

JOB SUMMARY: The Vacuum Excavation Truck Operator is responsible for operating and driving a vacuum excavation truck to various project sites to perform potholing of underground utilities and other excavation tasks. The operator must hold a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and adhere to industry standards and safety protocols. This role involves safely utilizing all functions of the vacuum truck, including the vacuum system, high-pressure water system, and debris tank. The operator ensures the safety of others working near the vacuum truck by maintaining clear communication and following safety procedures. Additionally, the operator coordinates dump locations and procedures for the disposal of waste material, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The role also includes maintaining equipment, performing routine inspections, and supporting project teams in achieving their objectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Core Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Professionally represents JHL Constructors and supports company strategic initiatives.
  • Operates vacuum excavation truck to perform potholing and other excavation tasks.
  • Drives the vacuum truck to various project sites, ensuring timely arrival and adherence to schedules.
  • Maintains and inspects equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
  • Fosters positive relationships with project teams, subcontractors, and business partners.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and company health and safety plans.
  • Completes daily reports and documentation of activities, progress, and any issues encountered.
  • Participates in continuous improvement training programs to enhance skills and promote best practices.
  • Assists with miscellaneous department duties, administrative tasks, and team initiatives.

Education / Experience / Training:

  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required. Class B. Tanker Endorsement Preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience operating large trucks and Hydro - excavation equipment.
  • Knowledge of underground utility locating and potholing techniques.
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required; 30-hour preferred.
