Job Description:
The Food Services Associate is responsible for operation of the OSJL Cafeteria and vending operations under direction of the Food Services Manager. The role assists in the operation of catering services, stocks and prepares food, utilizing kitchen safety techniques and health standards, handling, preparation, and services of food, vending machines and procured foods for sale. In addition, this individual will execute menus, meals, free lunch catering, safety inspections and sanitary conditions of the kitchen and dining areas, cash management, and the overall efficiency of food service operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide exceptional customer service: Be friendly and courteous to help keep customers coming back
- Carry out the food services program according to the owners’ requirements
- Comply with health and food safety standards, costs, appropriate food choices, vending machines, etc.
- Track and receive shipments and purchases
- Maintain clean work areas throughout operation
- Assure proper food preparation, portion sizes, stock management, and the overall presentation of food/vending.
- Utilize problem solving skills to properly handle any associate/customer conflict.
- Addresses complaints regarding food quality or service
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Food Services Manager, Encore Hospitality Management, and Owners as assigned
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods at a time
- Assist with vending machine tasks and responsibilities as required
- Performs tasks assigned with minimal supervision
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds easily
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years in a Food Service environment preferred
- Food Handling certification required (or obtainable within 30 days of hire)
- Excellent time Management skills
- Maintains professional demeanor at all times
- Good problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
