Who are we looking for?

Reporting to our Head of Product, we are looking for a technical Engineering Manager to lead our Integrations Engineering team. Integrations Engineering is responsible for scaling Pinwheel's core payroll connectivity products (Deposit Switch, Income & Employment Verification, Taxes) while bringing new products (Bill Navigator) to market. You'll be in the code every day, while also playing a critical role in setting direction and priorities for your team. You'll lead, coach, and grow the team to deliver value for our customers while keeping our systems reliable, secure, and performant.

What will you do?

  • Write code every day to support and expand Pinwheel's connectivity products - including PreMatch, our partnerships with payroll providers.
  • Lead, coach, and enable a stellar team of engineers to enable growth, ownership, and impact.
  • Collaborate with Product to shape our product roadmap.
  • Prioritize work to maximize the impact of your team.
  • Build a powerhouse team through coaching, career development, and hiring.
  • Be accountable for your team's results.
  • Help us to enhance our great engineering culture.
  • Identify headcount needs for the team and recruit high-caliber engineering talent.

What qualifications are necessary?

  • 1+ years as a tech lead or engineering manager
  • 5+ years as a software engineer
  • Experience with login, authentication, bot detection and SSO
  • Track record of shipping products that drive business impact
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team player attitude - we are building this together!
  • Excited to work onsite at NYC headquarters 3 days a week.
  • You have the necessary mentality and skills to win
  • You are known amongst your friends as someone who is relentless in your pursuit of your goals and equally resourceful in achieving them, often finding the clever, non-obvious solution to any given problem
  • You thrive in situations where the answer is unclear, things aren't working right, and the path to achieving success seems really hard because you take pride in overcoming hard things
  • You are able to quickly synthesize a lot of information and data and come up with an action plan to direct yourself and those around you to success
  • You regularly spend time figuring out how to improve yourself and your skills in your personal pursuit of greatness, however you define it
  • Whenever you encounter a problem, you dig unreasonably deep to figure out the underlying root causes and mechanics before you move towards a solution

At Pinwheel, total compensation is made up of salary + equity + benefits. We recruit motivated and high performing talent, and work to compensate people in line with the value they can bring to the organization in delivering outsized results. The talent market is competitive, and maintaining our ability to recruit and retain the best team possible is a top priority for Pinwheel. When creating an offer, we consider interview performance, candidate experience, external market competitiveness, and internal equity in thoughtfully assessing compensation. The expected cash salary range for this role is $165,000 - $195,000 base.
