WHAT WE'RE ABOUT:
At Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas (CHC/SEK) we provide the compassionate, quality healthcare that patients deserve, regardless of their ability to pay.
THE RUNDOWN:
The Grants Accountant provides coordination, monitoring, and reporting of assigned grants within the financial and grants management systems of CHC/SEK. The position will assist with data collection and assembling for grant applications and grant reports. The Grants Accountant works with other departments to ensure expenses are charged appropriately, as well.
Requirements
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
- Create and maintain a grant database.
- Assist in assembling data (number of visits, patient counts, etc.) for subsequent grant reports and gather data for grant applications.
- Monitor the progress of federal, state and private grants, including some contracts that are billed by the Finance Department.
- Manage grants expenditures to ensure compliance with federal spending guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with grant regulations.
- Coordinate with Purchasing staff to link appropriate expenses to grants.
- Create grant budgets and work with other staff to ensure grants are properly expended.
- Coordinate with the Human Resources Department on assignment of grants to staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required.
- One (1) to three (3) years of experience in nonprofit or governmental fund accounting required.
- Familiar with accounting procedures, workflows, including general ledger, payables, receivables, etc.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must possess an intense attention to detail.
- Social and cultural sensitivity appropriate to ethnically and economically diverse patient-and employee-base.
- Must be organized and able to manage/prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, adapts to change in a positive manner, able to work as a part of a team.
- Communicates through appropriate channels. Use proper chain of command for patient complaints.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Must be computer literate, especially with Microsoft Office products and be proficient with the Accounting/Finance software.
- Must be able to maintain good inter-personal relationship with co-workers and other members of the health care team and the organization.
- Provide customer service in accordance to the organization's mission.
- Be courteous and respectful when interacting with patients and family members.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance to organization's policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements.

WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Travel is required throughout the service area.
