Intake Pharmacy Technician
The Pharmacy Support (PS) colleague (uncertified, certified, unlicensed, or licensed) provides safe, quality technical and non-technical functions which assist in provision of pharmaceutical care under the supervision & direction of a registered pharmacist in accordance with level of experience, education, policies & procedures.
Functional Roles (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression)
PS IV - Lead / Business Support:
Primary responsibilities
Communicating with providers, case managers, patients in coordinating care
Obtaining and managing prior authorizations per insurance policy requirements for infusion medications
Assisting patients in co-pay assistance enrollment and management of renewals for these programs
Scheduling patient appointments
Collaboration with the billing team to help manage denials, address patient billing concerns, minimize lost revenue, and help to ensure all appropriate revenue is captured
Maintain accurate patient insurance information and obtain all clinical documentation for safe onboarding of new patients
Secondary responsibilities
Inventory management, filling prescriptions, ordering medications
Assist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, infusion nurses, intake team in daily tasks
Expanded knowledge and experience of the PS III - Advanced Expanded role.
Additional education in area of specialty, leader in area of pharmacy practice.
Serves as knowledge expert in specialty-based programs (e.g., 340B program specialist, inventory lead, medication history/reconciliation specialist), education resource, role model & mentor; coordinates / leads unit, program, or service scope of responsibilities, including management of human resources (e.g., scheduling, workflow, and operations).
Basic data analytic skills supporting report generation / dashboard maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or per state regulations as applicable; specialty license, registration, certification, training /or experience according to position or role and location of assignment in the applicable state of engagement. Some local travel to different locations may be required. Valid driver's license where required by assignment.
