Job Description

We're seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to prepare nutritious meals for patients, staff, and visitors. This role is essential to maintaining high standards of food quality, safety, and presentation in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare entrees and related items according to daily production sheets and standardized recipes
  • Practice safe food handling, storage, and infection control procedures (HACCP, TJC, MD Dept. of Health)
  • Taste-test and monitor food quality and temperature throughout production and service
  • Coordinate with team members to manage leftovers and ensure product availability
  • Use proper cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience required
  • 2 years in institutional food service preferred
  • Restaurant line cooking experience a plus
  • Certifications: Serve Safe Certification preferred
  • Skills:
  • Ability to follow recipes and production sheets accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and food presentation
  • Effective communication and teamwork

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Manual dexterity and fine hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to concentrate on detail and remember multiple tasks
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations and cleaning chemicals
