Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is where experienced, highly trained professionals advance the health of patients through specialized, expert treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal (bones, ligaments, muscles, tendons) problems. The practice's holistic approach to orthopedics involves coordination of personalized services within the practice and with other providers, to ensure a comprehensive range of care to people of all ages. We have combined expertise in all major orthopedic specialties, including sports medicine, orthopedic trauma, hand & upper extremities, joint replacement and spine care.

Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support our Injury Clinic onsite Monday through Friday for our West Hatfield Office. The clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00am to 4:30pm, so the weekly schedule will consist of 5, 8-hour shifts. We are also open to this Physician Assistant working 3, 8-hour shifts from 7:30am-8:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. We are very flexible with the schedule to accommodate this employee's schedule!

This is a an exciting opportunity to join our Advanced Practitioner team at our Hatfield Injury Clinic while also functioning as part of the larger Orthopedic team and collaborating with our Amherst Injury Clinic. This clinic provides urgent, same-day visits for patients, provides appropriate evaluation and treatment, and establishes needed follow up or surgical care during the visit. We also offer radiology services on-site.

Our APPs help diagnose and treat a variety of acute injuries, including:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Sports injuries
  • Foot, ankle, knee and hip injuries
  • Hand, forearm, elbow and shoulder injuries
  • Fractures and dislocations

In addition to these injuries, the candidate must also be comfortable with treating pediatric patients, administering therapeutic and diagnostic injections, interpreting radiographs, reducing fractures, and applying splints/casts.

  • Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
