Job Description

WAREHOUSE MANAGER - LOUISVILLE, KY

OVERVIEW:

The Warehouse Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the warehouse operations within the facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for managing all aspects of warehouse activities, including inventory management, receiving, storage, and distribution of raw materials and finished goods, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Lead and manage all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping activities, to meet production schedules and customer demand. 
  • Develop and implement warehouse policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and inventory control. 
  • Coordinate with production, procurement, and logistics departments to ensure timely availability of raw materials and supplies to support production requirements. 
  • Oversee inventory management processes, including cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies, to maintain accurate inventory levels and minimize stockouts or excess inventory. 
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and sanitation standards in warehouse operations, including proper handling and storage of food products. 
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for warehouse staff, including training, regular safety inspections, and enforcement of safety policies. 
  • Monitor warehouse equipment and facilities for maintenance needs, repairs, and improvements, and coordinate with maintenance department to address issues in a timely manner. 
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to track warehouse efficiency, productivity, and accuracy, and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Manage and develop warehouse staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and career development, to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce. 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, vendors, and transportation carriers, to optimize warehouse operations, resolve issues, and improve supply chain performance. 

  

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Proven experience in warehouse management or related field, with at least 4 years of progressive leadership experience in a food manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management principles, and regulatory requirements for food storage and handling. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve operational excellence. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as external stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control software, and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement. 
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodology, and other process improvement methodologies. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing business needs.

WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE:

  • Master's degree preferred. 
  • Certification in warehouse management, supply chain management, or related fields is a plus.
