Company Overview

The Construction Products Group (CPG) division of IAPMO, specializing in performing technical evaluations and generating evaluation reports for code compliance of building products/materials and related products with support through our testing lab and quality assurance programs. CPG provides Evaluation Reports/Listings as evidence commercial and residential materials, and infrastructure related products, meet building code requirements.

Position Summary

The Construction Products Group (CPG) is seeking a Technical Sales Specialist to spearhead growth initiatives within our construction products segment. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities across commercial and residential construction sectors. The ideal candidate understands building materials and manufacturing, building codes and standards, and has a track record in B2B solution selling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new business product evaluation opportunities in the construction industry, including building, construction and related products.
  • Conduct market research to uncover customer needs, competitor positioning, and emerging trends in construction.
  • Develop a robust pipeline of qualified prospects through cold calling, networking, referrals, and targeted campaigns.
  • Engage customers with a consultative sales approach to evaluating their products, recommending paths to successful evaluation often involving engineering consultation, laboratory testing and the development of a quality assurance program.
  • Collaborate with internal personnel directly involved with engineering evaluation, laboratory testing and quality assurance assistance.
  • Support post-sale customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction, retention, and upselling opportunities.
  • Represent Construction Products Group at industry trade shows, events, and customer sites as needed.

 

Qualifications - Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or architectural engineering or combination of similar education and work-related experience required.
  • 4 years of relevant work experience required, in the building products industry.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, be a self-starter and be self-motivated as this is a highly independent role.
  • Basic knowledge of codes, standards, and regulatory requirements for the building products industry.
  • Strong consultative and interpersonal relationship building skills, highly desired.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with potential customers/partners.
  • Ability to collect, organize and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Travel required as needed to attend conferences, meetings, and other functions.
  • Solid PC skills; proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet searches.
  • Working knowledge of the building materials/systems certification and evaluation report process a plus
  • Prior experience using CRM software, preferred.

Salary$105,000-$115,000
