Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer for our Motor-Gearbox Advanced Engineering team. You will work with a team of talented engineers in support of the motor-gearbox development efforts at Lucid. You will draw lines, add numbers together, and form chaos into art and science. You will work on clean sheet designs and inventions of EV propulsion systems with Lucid Motor’s world-class powertrain design team. You are considered successful if your R&D project is launched for commercialization. Bonus: Suggest a design to have a conjugate movement between a module 3 and a DP8 involute gear.
The role:
- A digital sketch is handed over; you will work it out to a prototype.
- Perform numerical analyses, FEA-s, gear design and manipulation, stackups, optimization.
- Recommend and apply changes, complete 3D models and manufacturing prints, apply GD&T strategies.
- Contact vendors, oversee prototype build, manage validation, generate inventions.
- Create and coach others to create. Develop reports that detail the understanding gained from research.
Qualifications:
- Good understanding of electric powertrain fundamentals and manufacturing processes.
- Hands-on mechanical fabrication, prototyping and/or test experience.
- 0-3 years of relevant work experience with excellent written, verbal and organization skills.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred:
- Automotive powertrain experience - especially transmission and EV powertrain systems.
- Hands-on mechanical test build and prototyping skills.
- Software CATIA V6/3DX, GD&T, Ansys, Adams, Romax.
- Ingenuity and creativity; You will be asked for an example, an engineering hobby or project you spent long time on, just for fun.
Education:
- BS, minimum (MS, preferred) in mechanical engineering or a related field.
