The Academic Coach is an integral member of a team of professionals committed to student success. Illinois College is an institution uniquely dedicated to helping students from diverse backgrounds receive a stellar liberal arts education. The Center for Academic Excellence is at the heart of that mission and seeks to ensure that all students strive for and achieve academic excellence and, ultimately, graduate from Illinois College. The academic coach's primary responsibility is to provide students with advice, coaching, advocacy, and connection to other support services on campus. The academic coach will work individually and with groups of students to promote academic excellence and goal persistence, with particular focus on transfer, non-traditional and online students
Essential Responsibilities:

- Meet regularly with students to coach them toward meeting their academic goals
- Participate in professional development related study strategies
- Meet regularly with students to coach them toward meeting their academic goals.
- Help students connect with other on-campus resources and off-campus agencies as necessary.
- Collaborate with athletics and other campus offices to support strategic initiatives.
- Provide outreach to transfer, non-traditional, and online students to increase their engagement with academic and other support services.
- Collect and record data necessary for evaluation of the academic coaching program related initiatives.
- Maintain student files and other necessary documentation relevant to the Center for Academic Excellence.
- Implement programming to support the specific needs of transfer and non-traditional student populations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, or other relevant field required; master's preferred
- Minimum three years' experience in post-secondary education in student affairs, student development, or academic affairs strongly preferred
- Experience working with a variety of student populations, including non-traditional and online students, required
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships, engage in creative problem-solving, and extend enlightened hospitality when working with others
- Intercultural competence and the ability to work with a diverse population
- Knowledge of student development theory
