Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven Accounting Manager to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our nonprofit organization. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with grant and donor requirements, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for social impact.

Salary Range: $110,000 – $135,000 annually

Location: Onsite 5 days a week

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Maintain accurate records for all financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit standards.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.

Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis to leadership.

Compliance & Audit

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including IRS and grantor requirements.

Coordinate annual audits and prepare necessary documentation.

Maintain internal controls and recommend improvements as needed.

Grant & Fund Accounting

Track and report on restricted and unrestricted funds.

Prepare financial reports for grantors and donors.

Collaborate with program staff to ensure proper allocation of expenses.

Team Collaboration

Supervise accounting staff or contractors as needed.

Work closely with the development, operations, and program teams to support cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a nonprofit setting.

Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar).

Strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting and GAAP.

Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $110,000 – $135,000 annually, depending on experience.
