Job Description

The Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law at High Point University invites applicants to serve as an Adjunct Professor of Law, teaching Constitutional Criminal Procedure. The selected candidate will have the exciting opportunity to work in a highly collaborative environment with a holistic approach to legal education that focuses on the doctrinal knowledge, practical skills, and values-based professional identity students need for success in a rapidly evolving legal profession.

Candidates for this position should have a passion for teaching and be well-suited to work in a collegial and student-oriented culture. The selected candidate’s primary responsibility will be teaching Constitutional Criminal Procedure, a two-credit course, in the fall 2025 semester (and in future semesters if the school and selected candidate so desire). The anticipated start date for this position is August 18, 2025.

The Kahn School of Law is one of the most recent graduate schools begun by High Point University, an innovative liberal arts institution with over 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students and with expertise in educating students in the life skills critical for professional success. The School of Law will be seeking ABA provisional approval at the earliest opportunity in conformity with ABA Standards. The School of Law welcomed its inaugural class of J.D. students in August 2024.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-approved law school 
  • Exemplary academic record 
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching and student mentorship and in creating an inspiring, welcoming, and dynamic learning environment for all students 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills sufficient to work effectively with other law school faculty and staff 
  • Willingness to contribute actively to the mission, vision, and objectives of the School of Law and University 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience teaching at the law school level 
  • Active engagement in professional organizations, such as discipline-specific organizations and bar associations
