Job Title: Adjunct Teaching- Design- Illustration (DESIL 140, DESIL 240)
Posting End Date: October 21, 2025

Position Start Date:January 7, 2026
Required Degree: BA or BFA required; MFA preferred.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
- Experience with communication with college-level students and collaboration with colleagues in a collegial manner is preferred.
- Professional illustration experience who has a record of professional activity including commissioned and published illustrations, an understanding of contemporary issues and emerging trends in the field of illustration, experiential knowledge of professional practices in one or more current markets, and familiarity with prominent figures in the discipline and their historical context.
Qualifications: A qualified candidate will present a professional portfolio of original illustration work with evidence of substantial competencies in:
- 2D design, drawing, color, and composition
- 2D digital illustration media, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Procreate, etc.
- Clear and effective visual communication of concepts and narratives
- Teaching technical concepts requires an efficient thinker with a unique and enthusiastic approach to helping students.
Duties/Expectations:
- Teach DESIL 140: Intro to Digital Illustration and/or DESIL 240: Interm. Digital Illustration during Winter 2026 semester.
- Speak and write effectively, explain concepts clearly, plan, design, and lead meaningful learning activities and assignments that demonstrate effective digital media techniques and studio practices.
- Teach the Illustration process, visual problem solving, and design thinking.
- Provide helpful feedback and useful evaluations of student work, and foster an accessible, inclusive, and experiential learning environment.
- Lecturing, creating assignments, grading, critiques, communicating/responding to student emails.
- Part-time faculty are not required to hold office hours, attend staff meetings, serve on committees, or mentor students.
