Job Title: Adjunct Teaching- Theatre & Media Arts- TMA 373, 374 & 394 Film Non-Fiction Production

Position Start Date:January 2, 2026
Required Degree: Bachelor's degree. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience as a filmmaker.
Duties/Expectations:
Teach TMA 373 & 374 Documentary Advanced Film Production (AFP), an upper-division sequence of courses through three terms in the Media Arts program of the BYU Department of Theatre & Media Arts (TMA). The instructor will provide students with close mentoring through their process of developing, shooting, and editing a faculty-approved short documentary film.
- During Winter 2026 term 1 (Jan 7 - Feb 25), the class (TMA 373, Pre-Production), meets once a week for 2 hours and focuses on processes of preproduction, culminating with the student team presenting their final pitch to the Media Arts faculty.
- During Winter 2026 term 2 (Feb 26 - Apr 22), the class (TMA 374, Production) meets twice a week for 2 hours and supports the students during their production phase.
Teach TMA 394 (3 credits), an upper-division documentary course in the Media Arts program of the Department of Theatre & Media Arts. The class provides students with principles and techniques of documentary production, information gathering, conceptualizing, and storytelling.
- The class meets twice a week for 2 hours, with students working in teams to create documentary production exercises with advanced equipment for the first half of the semester. For the second half of the semester, students develop documentary ideas, and each builds a pitch packet.
