Job Description:

Summary:    Develop and improve cross domain control functions with chassis, powertrain, and AD/ADAS domains/systems. Construct vehicle systems, integrate multiple actuator/sensor, and create new value of the vehicle.

Essential Functions:

Development

Design, implement, and test cross domain/integrated/actuator control algorithms is required. Analyze and utilize recognition data and other sensor data is required. Construct vehicle, design motion control and distribution control to chassis and powertrain actuators is required. Integrate the control functions of multiple domains is required. Create design specifications for RFQ to outsourcing companies is required Process standardization across technologies and minimization of cost and development duration is required.

Strategy

Develop development masterplan aligned with the company's corporate business objectives is required.

Management

Analyze the time frames, funding limitations, staffing requirements, project procedures, and allocation of available resources for all phases of project is required. Direct research and development, quality control and product modification and improvement activities in alignment with established program objectives is required. Collaborate with global cross-functional teams is required. Share knowledge and expertise with internal teams and stakeholders to foster learning and collaboration is required. Use coaching and teaching to bring out the abilities of subordinates and help them grow is required.

Customer service

Represent the company with its major customers, and the public is required. Travel to customer locations supporting product development and throughout (s) for product reviews, testing, and change updates with periodic travel with customer to company manufacturing facilities (domestic and international) is required. Consistently use exceptional customer service skills and work with all levels of staff and maintain strict confidentiality of information is required.

Compliance

Oversee the review of product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements is required. Maintain a safe workplace and follow all regulations and requirements related to safety and environmental compliance is required. Follow all quality policy standards is required. Ensure legal compliance in all engineering product design activities. is required

Qualifications:

Knowledge skills and abilities:

Sensing

• Knowledge of how to use internal & external sensor (GPS, IMU, camera, LiDAR) is required.
• Knowledge of dead reckoning and localization is required.
• Knowledge of sensor fusion system including camera is preferred.

Control

• Prior experience with real-time algorithm development for vehicle motion control is required.
• Ability to develop stability control and dynamics control is preferred.
• Ability to carry out system level integration of multiple domains in vehicles is required.
• Ability to develop ADAS lateral and horizontal control function is preferred.
• Familiarity with Model Predictive Control is plus.

SW and Tool

• Knowledge of high-speed communication protocols (CAN/Ethernet/etc) is required.
• Programming skills in C is required, C++, MATLAB and Python is preferred.
• Familiarity with Model Based Development tools (specifically MATLAB, Simulink, Carsim, dSPACE and Autobox) is required.
• Familiarity with Linux(Ubuntu) development environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Cloud development environment such as AWS is plus.

General

• Ability of excellent writing and communication is required.
• Ability to work in a team environment and present development outcomes to sponsors and customers is required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction is required.
• Experience with PCs and application software, such as MS Office tools is required.

Education: Master's degree in engineering or related area required. Ph. D preferred.

Experience: Minimum 10 years prior related experience required.  Exposure to Automotive engineering is required, including the followings

An understanding of Automotive embedded systems.

An understanding of ADAS sensors and ADAS control functions.

An understanding of stability control and dynamics control.

An understanding of electrical chassis systems and electrical powertrain systems.

An understanding of FMEA or FTA and development of vehicle systems.

Job level determined by various factors such as organization size, responsibility, career stage, and capabilities.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:   Required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Have the ability to work 40-60 hours per week.

Travel: Domestic and international may be required as needed. 

Work Environment: Primarily in a professional business office with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments.
