Job Summary:

The Medical Receptionist will be responsible for managing the front office operations, providing exceptional customer service to patients, and ensuring the smooth running of daily activities. This position requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in person or on the telephone, and answering or referring inquiries.
  • Notes patient arrivals in the Practice Management System (EMR).
  • Identifies patients by date of birth and name in the computer system, and creates new accounts if necessary.
  • Prepares necessary patient paperwork prior to their appointment.
  • Calls “No Show” appointments to reschedule, makes notations in the Practice Management System, and sends letters to patients when required.
  • Optimizes patient satisfaction and provider time by scheduling appointments and answering patient questions.
  • Responds promptly to patients in distress, using good judgment and reasoning.
  • Updates patient information in the system as required and verifies insurance eligibility.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the reception area.
  • Records and collects patient copays and balances at check-in/out.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Demonstrates superior customer service skills in all interactions.
  • Manages communications with patients, visitors, providers, and team members professionally.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Area Practice Manager.


Requirements
  • High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred
  • 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare office preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
