Position Summary:

The Physical Security Officer is accountable for the safety and security of the Bank's assets, employees, customers, guests, banking centers/offices, and other assets. The Physical Security Officer will help facilitate the processes for preventative maintenance and repairs of security systems and devices and make strategic recommendations to the Physical Security Manager; serve on project teams; conduct risk assessments and compliance activities; handle incident management and response duties; and support the Banking Center Audit Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Security Program Development: Assist the Physical Security Manager with the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Bank's physical security programs including, but not limited to: Enterprise Physical Security Risk Management & Asset Protection, Physical Security Measures, Equipment, and Technology including Video Surveillance, Security Alarms, and Access Controls.

  • Security Operations & Management; Key Personnel Protection Security; Travel Security; Physical Security Training; Security Administration/Leadership: Using a combination of internal and external resources: identify, develop, implement, and maintain security processes, practices, and policies throughout the Bank to reduce physical security risks, respond to incidents (including civil unrest threats), and limit exposure and liability in all areas of physical security risk.

  • Security Operations: Coordinate and implement branch/site security, operations, and activities to ensure the protection of executives, board members, employees, customers, and guests, as well as all physical and information assets, while ensuring optimal use of personnel and equipment. Work with Bank Operations and Risk Management to ensure that all policies and procedures contain appropriate controls to safeguard the Bank, its employees and assets, and to identify and minimize physical security related risks and losses. Monitor, assess and recommend actions that respond to the financial sector threat landscape.

  • Security related matters that involve Insiders: Responsible for conducting internal fraud or security related investigations, including teller variances, ensuring that appropriate Executive Leadership is kept informed; work with HR as it relates to supporting efforts with Stakeholder's as to communication around security/fraud related matters, completing and documenting the investigation and working with HR and the Physical Security Manager as to recommendations for resolution.

  • Compliance: Ensure the Bank's compliance with regulations, particularly the Bank Protection Act, and other regulations as applicable to the accountability of the role and in collaboration with key stakeholders, including privacy, data protection, and environmental, health and safety regulations.

  • Security Measures and Controls: Assist the Physical Security Manager with research and the deployment of industry leading technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the Bank. Establish appropriate standards and associated risk controls. Aide in the implementation and installation of physical security systems in all new construction of Bank banking centers/offices, as well as, all renovations, and closures of locations. Ensures oversight of the keys and combination controls and the Open/Close/Emergency/Evacuation Procedures. Supports Retail Operations by completing the security portions of banking center audits and consulting on security control issues.

  • Law Enforcement/Industry Relationships: Develop relationships with law enforcement officials to include security, intelligence, and other relevant governmental functions as well as private sector counterparts.

  • Key Stakeholder Partnerships/Collaboration: Partner with key stakeholders and deliver and/or provide support for organizational programs specific to threat and incident management, investigations, crisis management, business continuity, and Environmental Health & Safety, as appropriate for the accountability of the role.

  • Third Party Vendor Management: Maintain security vendor relationships in accordance with Bank vendor management and procurement policies.

  • Security Training & Awareness: Direct training requirements and content for new employee and ongoing/continuous training of Bank employees in security and safety measures; including Robbery, Active Shooter, and Emergency Procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3-5 years related experience and/or training, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience with criminal investigation, security management, or risk management

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory oversight of financial institutions and the ability to create partnerships and instruct others in effective security measures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree

  • 5-7 Years of applicable experience such as law enforcement, corporate security functions, or prior banking experience

  • Prior experience interfacing with local, state and federal law enforcement; and private sector corporate security organizations

  • Prior knowledge of Federal Statutes (Title 18) and similar state penal statutes that relate to threats, robbery, Bank Protection Act, protests, trespassing, vandalism, etc.

  • Ability to professionally represent the Bank on industry specific organizations and workgroups

Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced skills using various security technologies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills preferably in Financial Services industry

  • Excellent communications (oral and written), interpersonal / business partnering, and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively within times of crisis and incidents

  • Adaptability/Initiative: Adjust quickly and effectively to changing conditions and demands, view change as a necessary and inevitable aspect of organizational life as well as an opportunity to learn new things. Able to take on a variety of different tasks and roles in the organization. Can move in a relatively seamless manner from one task or focus to another and can fill in for other team members when they are absent or are experiencing work overload. Look for new and productive ways to make an impact/value to the organization and/or team. Demonstrate a positive attitude when faced with organizational change and generates constructive feedback for continuous improvement. Demonstrate a professional demeanor.

  • Attention to Detail. Follow detailed procedures; ensures accuracy in documentation and details; concentrate on routine work details; organized and maintain a system of records
